Stadi.TV – city television for all

The transformation of media and breakthrough of social media have put consumers in a key position, alongside professionals in content production. Stadi.TV is a new, local television channel, based on cooperation between Helsinki residents, Arcada University of Applied Sciences, the media culture association m-cult, the telecom operator Elisa, the City of Helsinki and Forum Virium Helsinki. The service enables users to watch videos shot by fellow citizens, in parallel with an editorial TV channel.
User-centric approach is an integral part of Stadi.TV, since city inhabitants are involved in both service creation and content production. In addition to individual users, various communities can also participate. Stadi.TV offers all parties the opportunity to produce and share content.
Stadi.TV was launched in 2010 and by 2012, it will be a permanent, active contributor to the Helsinki media scene. The channel will be widely visible in the city: on TV, on the Internet, on web TV and mobile devices. It will also form part of the new urban screens, being tested on sites such as the Helsinki City Tourist Office’s windows on Unioninkatu.
Stadi.TV has a background in a number of existing media channels and services, such as Arcada’s DINA-TV and the Eurovision Song Contest’s Helsinki Host City service. Forum Virium Helsinki, in overall charge of the channel’s contents, production and technology, is coordinating Stadi.TV.
